King Vidor’s 1928 silent black-and-white classic about the life of the fictional John Sims (James Murray), set early 1900s America. While not a financial success on initial release, The Crowd eventually became considered a groundbreaking work of the silent era. When a blind double date introduces him to a woman (Eleanor Boardman, Vidor's wife) of his desires, John proposes to her by the end of the night.
