When will bloodsucking superhero movie Morbius be released in the UK?
There’s a lot going on in the latest trailer for anti-heroic action flick Morbius: in fact, Jared Leto looks downright batty as the sickly super-vampire.
After a long wait, Morbius will arrive in UK cinemas this January 21, 2022. And we wouldn’t count out some cameos from fellow Sony/Marvel characters, after echolocating some hints in the film’s new trailer below.
Leto is borrowing from the best Victorian horror tropes as Dr Michael Morbius, a two-faced genius scientist seeking to cure his own rare blood disease. His supernatural treatment proves experimental at best, forcing him to travel in darkness via cargo ship before emerging as a pale-skinned, bloodsucking superhero.
His emo powers include a shredded new bod, the ability to fly via “some form of bat-radar”, hypnotism, and super strength. The only downside is that insatiable thirst for blood, but don’t worry: he’s following in the footsteps of Dexter Morgan and Edward Cullen, seemingly only snacking on bad guys. Or at the very least, badder guys than he.
The new Morbius trailer isn’t shy about its cinematic universe scheming, including a quick line of dialogue from Michael Keaton’s Vulture character from Spider-Man: Homecoming, and not one but two mentions of Venom.
Other supporting players include Matt Smith, Tyrese Gibson, Jared Harris, and Adria Arjona as the haunted doc’s fiancée. We’ll have to wait until January to see how these newcomers congeal together with any other ‘Sinister’ Marvel anti-heroes that might swing by for a visit.
