UK trailer and release date: Stranger Things season 4
Is there a subtle Meat Loaf tribute going on in the trailer for Netflix’s final season of 80s Amblin sci-fi? Well, Stranger Things have happened.
Terrible beasts of the night circle in red and blue skies, whilst a new Clive Barker-esque bad guy from the Upside Down leers at us from the attic of a haunted house. It’s definitely more horror-flavoured than the sentimental, tween-focused sci-fi we got in season one, but we’ll take it. Season four of Stranger Things arrives on Netflix worldwide this May 27. Party on, Eleven. Party on, Mike.
Scored by epic electric guitar shredding, the trailer for our final season of Stranger Things kindly recaps where we left the Hawkins gang. Max (Sadie Sink) is still mourning the death of her bad boy brother Billy (Dacre Montgomery): Hopper (David Harbour) is alive, bald, and trapped in some Russian gulag: and a de-powered Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and the Byers fam have been relocated far away from Indiana :(
But a cosmic war is coming, and telekinetic or not, Eleven must lead the forces of good to victory. Even if the forces of evil do awesomely resemble something out of Heavy Metal magazine. We’ve been told that every episode of the season runs for over an hour, so you may want to break your final binge sesh into digestible chunks.
The final season of Stranger Things can’t come soon enough—in part because the lead actors are all so grown up now, and gotta move on to bigger and brighter projects. The tweet below, comparing the adolescent stars to Wet Hot American Summer‘s youthful and fun-lovin’ “teen” cast, hits the nail on the head. Especially with Noah Schnapp really outgrowing that bowl cut.

Expect more charming moments between Steve (Joe Keery) and Robin (Maya Hawke), tearjerking goodbyes to fan faves Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo) and Erica (Priah Ferguson), and a whole lot of gaping at the screen and saying “omigosh they’re so grown up!” Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin) is basically a grown-ass man now, especially freaky with the above trailer’s flashbacks to the gang as mere babies in season one.
