Listen up, ya kakaroaches: we’ve got a release date for Russian Doll season 2
It’s been about four years since Netflix’s Russian Doll trapped the lovely Natasha Lyonne in a Groundhog Day time-loop of her 36th birthday party. That means, agonisingly, we haven’t heard her pronounce the word “cockroach” as “kakaroach” in almost 1500 days. Cruel, cruel world!!
I say kakaroach normal. It’s you all who are crazy.

Thankfully, the streaming platform has dropped a season 2 date announcement video, showing off some tantalising snippets of the next instalment. Russian Doll will return to Netflix on April 20, sending us into a hilarious and poignant time loop of New York thirties-dom all over again.
Creator, producer, and star Natasha Lyonne is back in red curls and a heavy tweed coat as Nadia, the software engineer who seemed to escape her endless replay of the same day by the end of season one. In fact, that season was wrapped up with a very satisfying and sweet ending—can this new batch of episodes really expand on that?
Yeah, we’re sure they can. Sharlto Copley, Ephraim Sykes, and Kevin Can F**k Himself star Annie Murphy will appear in the new season, with Charlie Barnett back as the hapless fellow time loop victim Alan.
It still remains to be seen whether or not Harry Nilsson’s “Gotta Get Up” will be used as the iconic wake-up song for each recurring day, but fans of the first season of Russian Doll shouldn’t mind hearing it one or a hundred more times.
