Starring everybody’s favourite super clean killer, Dexter: New Blood is now streaming
Dexter always had a great premise, combining cop procedural TV with a dark and twisted main character. Pity about that ending though: lead actor Michael C. Hall has since called the series finale “mystifying at best”, after a hurricane swept Dexter into a new life as…a lumberjack.
Will fans of the show be tempted back by more lumberjack adventures, with shocking family discoveries and vigilante targets thrown in for good measure? Find out via Sky Atlantic and NOW, where episodes of Dexter: New Blood arrive from November 8.
The series’ first episode is already available, revealing that the same amount of time has passed for Dexter Morgan as it has for us. He’s part of a wholesome winter wonderland of a community in Iron Lake, NY, smooching his cop GF and laughing with the locals. His adopted identity of ‘Jim Lindsay’ is reminiscent of Jeff Lindsay, the author responsible for creating Dexter in a series of eight novels.
It looks like everything’s coming up Dexter. Until a serial string of disappearances grabs his attention, awakening the ‘Dark Passenger’ fans will know and fear from the original episodes. The ‘New Blood’ in the title could refer to the terrifying violence to come—or to Dexter’s reunion with his son Harrison, after ten years apart. Could he have inherited his dad’s killer instincts?
Hopes are high for this Paramount+ exclusive reboot. With Michael C. Hall and Jennifer Carpenter both returning alongside a fresh new cast, we hope that Dexter: New Blood offers a wintery blast of thrills and chills with all the best bits of the original show. Clancy Brown has been confirmed to play the town’s ‘unofficial mayor’, a formidable villain who is hopefully some combination of the vicious Kurgan and greedy Mr Krabs (both played by Brown).
UK viewers who can handle a bit of hacking and slashing can get excited to watch each episode of Dexter: New Blood the day after its US release, at 10pm on both Sky Atlantic and NOW. Every episode of Dexter is also on NOW and Netflix UK, if you feel like a massive rewatch before starting another Dexter adventure.
