How to watch the 2024 Emmy Awards in the UK
TV’s big night is almost upon us, with the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Primetime Emmy Awards, generally just known as the Emmys, fast approaching. Technically, ATAS gives out awards on a number of occasions throughout the calendar year, but let’s be real: when we say Emmys, this is generally what we mean.
How to watch the 2024 Emmy Awards in the UK
The 76th Emmy Awards will stream in the UK as a delayed cast on September 16 at 9pm on Sky Max and Sky Showcase. Streamer NOW TV will also offer the ceremony. This year the awards are hosted by Schitt’s Creek stars Eugene Levy and Dan Levy, the first time a father and son duo have hosted.
Who’s competing in the 2024 Emmy Awards?
The Bear has smashed the record for most nods for a comedy series, it’s 23 nominations beating out reigning champ 30 Rock, which had held the record for 15 years with 22 nominations. Of course, whether The Bear counts as a comedy is up for debate, but we won’t go into that here.
The historical epic Shogun leads this year’s drama category with 25 nominations, including nods for lead performers Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai for Best Actor and Best Actress, respectively.
Elsewhere, nightmarish stalking docudrama Baby Reindeer seems like a strong contender for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, and we’re curious to see if Jean Smart manages to rack up a third Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series win for her role in the sublime Hacks.

Why we’re excited about the Emmys
Well, let’s be honest here: we are not immune to the occasional dose of old school Hollywood glitz and glamour, nor are we too proud to admit it. We love a good awards night, and even have some affection for the much-maligned Golden Globes, who seem to have an open bar policy that has led to some immortal on-stage moments. We will be there, champagne in hand, pyjamas still on.
