How to watch Star Wars origin story Tales of the Jedi season 1 in the UK
Clone Wars mastermind Dave Filoni, one of the chief architects of the Disney Era Star Wars Galaxy, is back with a brand new animated series exploring the untold adventures of the Jedi Order’s greatest heroes. Grab your lightsaber and tighten your Padawan braid, because Tales of the Jedi is now streaming exclusively on Disney+.
The six-episode anthology series follows two loosely connected story arcs. In one, we adventure with Ahsoka Tahno (Ashley Eckstein) from birth up to her time hiding out from the Empire after the events of Revenge of the Sith (this loosely adapts the novel Ahsoka by E.K. Johnston, which means the book is now part of the non-canonical Star Wars Legends).
In the second, we focus on Count Dooku (Corey Burton) as he adventures with his Padawan, Qui-Gon Jinn (Micheál Richardson, with his father, Liam freakin’ Neeson, actually reprising the role of the older Qui-Gon), tracking his gradual fall to the Dark Side.
It’s been a minute since we spent time in the Republic Period, and it’s a lot of fun to revisit the clean character designs of the Clone Wars series. Fan fave characters such as Anakin Skywalker (Matt Lanter), Obi-Wan Kenobi (James Arnold Taylor), and Mace Windu (TC Carter) make appearances, plus Yaddle, the Jedi Master of the same species as Yoda, is now voiced by Bryce Dallas Howard, further cementing the actor-turned-director’s place in the Star Wars family.
While the Prequel Trilogy has its fair (very fair, TBH) share of detractors, Dave Filoni’s work on The Clone Wars is widely recognised as top-tier Star Wars, and it looks like Tales of the Jedi is attracting even more rapturous reviews: it’s currently sitting on 100% on Rotten Tomatoes, which is no mean feat. Jedi may not crave adventure and excitement, but fans will find plenty of both here.
