How to watch La Brea seasons 1, 2 and 3 in the UK

Did you sleep on sci-fi action drama La Brea? Don’t sweat it, we did too. But having just wrapped its three season run, there’s never been a better time to get into this primeval programmer. Except, y’know, maybe a bit earlier in order to stave off cancellation.

How to watch La Brea seasons 1, 2 and 3 in the UK

All three seasons of La Brea are now available to rent or buy in the UK on Apple, Amazon Prime Video, and the Google Play Store. Season one is also streaming on Paramount+.

What is La Brea about?

Vibing like a series that should have been released a couple of years into Lost‘s run, La Brea sees the world go topsy-turvy when a mysterious sinkhole opens up on the site of the eponymous tar pits in Los Angeles. If that’s not bad (or exciting) enough, it’s actually a portal in time leading to 10,000 B.C. or thereabouts. So while some characters tumble back in time and have to deal with sabretooth tigers, dire wolves and whatnot in a landscape that looks an awful lot like regional Victoria (the whole thing was shot in Australia) those left in our period work to unravel the mystery behind the portal’s appearance.

It’s a bit like Terra Nova (remember that one?) or the British series Primeval. So if you’re into time-hopping shenanegans replete with marauding prehistoric animals, this might be the cut of your jib.

The cast of La Brea

Natalie Zea (Justified) is Eve Harris, a working mum who finds herself in the past; Eoin Macken is Gavin Harris, her former Air Force pilot estranged husband, who is plagued by visions of 10,000 B.C.; Zyra Gorecki and Jack Martin are their kids, as Izzy and Josh; Diesel La Torraca is Isaiah, a young boy from the past; Chiké Okonkwo is therapist Ty Coleman; Karina Logue is cop Marybeth Hill; Josh McKenzie is Lucas, her heroin dealer son. Plus there’s Veronica St. Clair, Rohan Mirchandaney, Lily Santiago, Chloe De Los Santos, Michelle Vergara Moore, Jon Seda, Nicholas Gonzalez, and Tonantzin Carmelo rounding out the ensemble.

Why we’re excited about La Brea

To be fair, the reviews have been brutal. Even the more generous critical takes have erred towards “trash classic” rather than “unlauded masterpiece.” But hey, it does what it says on the tin.
