How to watch Doc of Chucky in the UK

At last the tale can be told! The tale of a doll possessed by the soul of dead serial killer through an arcane voodoo ritual. Or, more accurately, the surprisingly large and long-lived media franchise built around him.

How to watch Doc of Chucky in the UK

Doc of Chucky is streaming in the UK exclusively on Shudder from November 1.

What is Doc of Chucky about?

Chucky! The diminutive, wise-cracking terror who’s the beating heart of the Child’s Play franchise.

Thommy Hutson, who also gave us the exhaustive documentaries Never Sleep Again: The Elm Street Legacy and Crystal Lake Memories: The Complete History of Friday the 13th, now turns his attention to the killer doll series inaugurated to no small amount of controversy by creator Don Mancini in 1988. And man, was it controversial. The media lost their minds over the prospect of this Cabbage Patch-lookin’ thing menacing kids.

Audiences responded, though, resulting in six sequels, numerous spin offs, tons of merch, a remake, and a three season TV series. Expect Doc of Chucky to delve into all of that. It clocks in at almost five hours!

The cast of Doc of Chucky

Interview subjects include Don Mancini, naturally; voice of Chucky and recently retired tower of talent Brad Dourif; Jennifer Tilly, the voice of Chucky’s equally murderous squeeze. Plus there’s Catherine Hicks, Chris Sarandon, John Waters, Fiona Dourif, Alex Vincent, Perrey Reeves, Gerrit Graham, David Kirschner, and many more.

Why we’re excited about Doc of Chucky

The Child’s Play series is wild and transgressive in a way few horror franchises are. If you’ve only seen the first two or three, you owe it to yourself to check out the later entries. It’s the quiet achiever of ’80s horror franchises. While Freddy Kruger and Jason Voorhees are in limbo, Chucky keeps on keepin’ on; Mancini is even working on a new film right now.

At this length, the whole enchilada may only be for those already in the cult. But give it a spin for an hour and see if it puts the hook in you—you’re in for a good time.
