How to watch Cunk on Life in the UK
One of the most brilliant comic creations of recent years is finally returning to our screens, and this time she’s asking the really big questions.
How to watch Cunk on Life in the UK
Cunk on Life is streaming in the UK on BBC iPlayer from December 30, and on Netflix from January 2, 2025.
What is Cunk on Life about?
Philomena Cunk uttered her first impossibly daft question on Charlie Brooker’s Weekly Wipe before exploring the farthest frontiers of complete idiocy in a series of specials and miniseries, including Cunk on Christmas, Cunk on Britain, Cunk and Other Humans, and Cunk on Earth. Now she returns to ponder the imponderability of it all in this new one-off special, taking in “Quantum Physics, Existentialism, Nihilism, Hedonism—and at least four other isms.” It’s a broad-ranging philosophical investigation into life, the universe, and everrything, endeavouring to uncover the very meaning of our existence, delivered in the inimitable Cunk style. Whether she discovers The Answer is up for grabs, but we wouldn’t put money on it.
The cast of Cunk on Life
Diane Morgan is, of course, back as the superbly self-serious and spectacularly stupid Philomena Cunk, and although the special promises to ivestigate the life and work of such seminal thinkers as Dostoyevsky, Van Gogh, and Nietzsche, so faar only Professor Brian Cox seems to be appearing on camera.

Why we’re excited about Cunk on Life
Philomena Cunk really is one of the greatest comedic characters in recent memory, and there’s something about her combo of complete earnestness and complete idiocy that just sings. Especially when delivered in Morgan’s disarmingly deadpan style. Skewering the sort of to-camera midbrow edutainment that floods our screens, she’s a very welcome respite to that kind of self-satisfied pedagogy. The trick is that you have to be pretty smart to play this dumb, and Morgan absolutely nails it.
