All We Imagine as Light is now screeening in UK cinemas.

What is All We Imagine as Light about?

An international co-production between France, India, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, and Italy, All We Imagine as Light is a slice-of-life portrait of modern India that follows three women: nurses Prabha and Anu, who are roommates and hospital cook Parvaty. When the latter’s chawl (a kind of low-cost housing tenement unique to India) is threatened with demolition, Prabha and Anu undertake to help her, eventually aiding her to move back to her home village when their bid to save the slum fails. But the film is less concerned with plot than portraiture, offering us an insight into three very different women and the challenges they face in modern India.
