Grumpy Cat Movie, New ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ and more movie news
Deadline dropped the depressing news that Meme of the Year-winning Grumpy Cat will be getting his own “Garfield-like” family feature film. The project will be lead by Todd Garner, producer behind (bear with me here) Here Comes the Boom, Zookeeper, Jack and Jill, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, Are We There Yet?, Are We Done Yet?, Zoom, The Master of Disguise and The Animal.
“It’s going to suck” says Tard, the titular grumpy snowshoe cat. Well, he didn’t actually say that, but he probably would.
‘Kon-Tiki’ directing duo to helm Fifth ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’
Today in news we never saw coming, Disney has decided on a director, or directors, for the fifth instalment of Pirates of the Caribbean. Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg will share the directing chair, having previously impressed with their Oscar-nominated oceanic adventure Kon-Tiki. It’s still playing in New Zealand, and James Croot says it’s awesome, so think about checking that one out in your local cinema.

Roadshow has given NZ cinema release dates for The Bling Ring (August 1st 2013) and Behind the Candelabra (August 22nd 2013), proving that any amount of gay is okay with Kiwi audiences. Aussie will get Bling Ring on July 25th and Candelabra on July 11th.
Universal has given a NZ cinema release date for We Steal Secret: The Story of Wikileaks (August 29th 2013). Aussie audiences will get it on July 4th.
