Get lost in the first swashbuckling, leech-picking trailer for The Lost City
It’s a star-studded romance ripped right out of a ridiculous bodice-ripping novel—or at least, off the cover.
Sandra Bullock and Channing Tatum star as a romance novelist and her hunky cover model in The Lost City, a swashbuckling adventure-comedy in UK cinemas from April 15. As the trailer below lets us know, she’s “not a real adventurer” and he’s “not a real hero”, but they’ll definitely make you laugh and swoon like a proper team of professionals.
Bullock is Loretta Sage (awesome name), an uninspired writer kidnapped by a loopy billionaire (Daniel Radcliffe) who believes she can find a lost treasure described in her latest book. He’s probably super wrong, but at least Tatum’s knuckle-headed model Alan Caprison can help her avoid certain death in the jungle.
The trailer makes The Lost City look like a damn good time, with gross-out moments and some big-budget explosions in between our unlikely lead couple’s bickering and bantering. It almost makes up for the tragic title change from The Lost City of D, a hilarious reference to the little-seen Lost City of Z.
Co-stars worth tuning in for include TV comedy talent Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Patti Harrison, plus Brad Pitt flaunting that Fabio wig almost as well as Tatum does: he’s playing a gung-ho CIA agent, the kinda guy who bounds up a palm tree to kick an enemy guard in the face.
Looks like Pitt is in his fun and goofy era, judging from this and the Bullet Train trailer. Fun and goofy, as we know, are well-trodden territory for both Bullock and Tatum, so this new one should be yet another loveable blast.
