Father’s Day Cancelled This Year
Less than a week out from boundary-pushing Monster Fest getting its gore-drenched, weirdness-infused programme of genre films underway at Auckland’s Academy Cinemas we’ve gotten wind of some very disappointing news: Father’s Day has been cancelled.
For legal reasons this Troma film about the hunt for a maniacal killer and rapist of fathers can’t be screened to New Zealand audiences, and so the sessions have had to be cancelled.
We’ve seen Father’s Day, and so in a way aren’t terribly surprised – but it is a massive, um, bummer that cinemagoers are going to miss out.
If you want to hazard a guess at why the film won’t screen and are feeling brave, take a look at the EXTREMELY NSFW fake trailer that the filmmakers later expanded into their feature-length film that you are now not allowed to see.
