Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy – UK trailer and release date

Bridget Jones is back in the fourth instalment of one of the most beloved romantic comedies of all time. You’re either head over heels or completely disinterested—not a lot of middle ground on this one.

When is Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy being released in the UK?

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy arrives in UK cinemas on February 13, 2025. Just before Valentine’s Day.

What is Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy about?

The beloved Bridget Jones, now in her 50s and widowed as of four years ago (so long, Mr Darcy—although Bridget kept her maiden name for the title, at least),  re-enters the dating scene. Given that the modern dating scene is an absolute nightmare of apps, hook-ups and WYDs, comedy ensues. But lo, here comes the much younger Roxster to put a spring in Bridget’s middle-aged step, along with the return of the third corner in the Jones-Darcy love triangle, Daniel Cleaver.

The cast of Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy

A lot of familiar faces are making their return here, including Renée Zellweger as Bridget Jones, naturally; silver fox Hugh Grant as Daniel Cleaver; Emma Thompson as Doctor Rawlings; Jim Broadbent and Gemma Jones as Colin and Pamela Jones, Bridget’s parents; and Colin Firth as the late Mark Darcy. Joining them are Leo Woodall as Roxster; Chiwetel Ejiofor as Mr. Wallaker, a teacher at Bridget’s kids’ school; and Isla Fisher as Bridget’s new neighbour, Rebecca.

Why we’re excited about Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy

Well, let’s face it, author Helen Fielding’s Bridget Jones is one of the great comic characters of recent times. And now, with the departure of Mark Darcy, there’s a bittersweet note to the narrative. We’re keen for another turn of the diary’s pages.
