Counter-culture car fetish classic sees a war veteran (and former stunt driver) attempt to deliver a Dodge Challenger cross-country in just a day - running into trouble with the law in the process.

Kowalski (Barry Newman) is an adrenaline junkie struggling to cope with the death of his girlfriend. Hopped up on trucker speed, he takes the wheel of a stunning white Dodge Challenger (paid homage in Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof) and thrills himself with an escalating series of run-ins with cop cars and motorcycles, and other motorists. Kowalski's progress across the U.S. is tracked by black radio DJ Super Soul (Cleavon Little, Blazing Saddles), who calls him "the last American hero" and assists him in evading the police... for a time.
