Mike Nichols' Oscar-winning coming-of-age comedy about a college graduate (Dustin Hoffman) caught in a romantic rut between the love of the woman he adores (Katharine Ross) and the shallow affair he had with her mother, Mrs Robinson (Anne Bancroft).
Having finished college, Ben Braddock returns home to a family that expects great things from him. But after his welcome-home party, he gets caught in an affair with the wife of his father’s business partner, Mrs "you're trying to seduce me" Robinson. However, after the fling passes, Ben is pushed by his father to take Elaine, Mrs. Robinson’s daughter, out on a date. As their romantic involvement deepens, so do the consequences of Ben’s taboo affair.
Hoffman's deadpan performance, Simon & Garfunkel's soundtrack and the film's cynical malaise have made the film a generation-defining classic.
