BAFTA-nominated filmmaker John Michael McDonagh (Calvary) adapts Lawrence Osborne's novel about a random accident that affects the lives of the local Muslims and Western visitors to a house party in a grand villa. Stars Jessica Chastain, Matt Smith, Ralph Fiennes and Caleb Landry Jones.
David (Fiennes) and Jo Henniger (Chastain), a couple in search of an escape from their less-than-happy lives in London, accept the invitation of their old friends Richard (Smith) and Dally (Jones) to attend a bacchanal at their luxurious home deep in the Moroccan desert. But as a drunken David navigates the dark desert roads, a young man springs from the roadside, the car swerves and hits him.
Meanwhile, festivities at the house are in full flow. Under the watchful eyes of their Moroccan staff, the extravagant hosts attend to the whims of their glittering, insatiable guests as the party rages on. The stage is set for a weekend in which David and Jo must come to terms with their fateful act and its shattering consequences.
