When King Richard the Lionheart (Ian Hunter) is captured, his scheming brother Prince John (Claude Rains) plots to reach the throne. Outraged, Sir Robin of Locksley rounds up his band of men and, eventually winning the support of the lovely Maid Marian (Olivia de Havilland), accuses Prince John of treachery. When the escaped King Richard returns covertly to England, he and Robin join forces to prevent Prince John from taking the crown.
