Directed by Michael Curtiz (Casablanca) and William Keighley, The Adventures of Robin Hood is a 1938 American Technicolor swashbuckling classic starring Errol Flynn, Olivia de Havilland, Basil Rathbone and Claude Rains. Winner of three 1939 Academy Awards including Best Original Score.
When King Richard the Lionheart (Ian Hunter) is captured, his scheming brother Prince John (Claude Rains) plots to reach the throne. Outraged, Sir Robin of Locksley rounds up his band of men and, eventually winning the support of the lovely Maid Marian (Olivia de Havilland), accuses Prince John of treachery. When the escaped King Richard returns covertly to England, he and Robin join forces to prevent Prince John from taking the crown.
