French filmmaker Katell Quillévéré's follow-up to her award-winning debut, Love Like Poison (2010). A coming-of-age drama, spanning decades and told in a series of short episodes, following the fragile and mercurial Suzanne...
Suzanne's (Sara Forestier) childhood is spent in a loving, working-class home in the south of France with her adoring elder sister Maria (Adèle Haenel) and their widowed father Nicolas (François Damiens). Barely into her teens Suzanne falls pregnant and declares that she will keep the baby – the first in a series of bombshells that she will drop on her family. By early adulthood, she appears to be back on the straight and narrow. But when she meets a small-time hood (Paul Hamy) her most reckless act follows, one with irrevocable consequences for her entire family.
