Superman IV: The Quest for Peace

The last Superman movie to star Christopher Reeve as the Man of Steel, Gene Hackman as Lex Luthor and Margot Kidder as Lois Lane. The big blue boy scout crusades for nuclear disarmament (which he achieves by hurling a large net filled with the world’s arsenal into the sun) and meets his match with a Luthor-created, solar-powered clone called Nuclear Man.

Studio Warner Bros., who made the first three films, sold the option to produce Superman IV to Cannon Films (who subsequently slashed the movie’s budget in half). Superman IV’s disastrous box office performance contributed to Cannon’s ultimate bankruptcy.

Less
