Splice

A sci-fi horror about two genetic engineers (Adrien Brody and Sarah Polley) who secretly conduct their own expreriments, splicing DNA to make new hybrids.

Superstars in their fields, Clive (Brody) and Elsa (Polley) want to take their research up a notch: they want to use human DNA in a hybrid creature that could revolutionize science and medicine. The pharmaceutical company that funds their research forbids it, but they secretly go ahead and the result is Dren: a strange creature that exhibits uncommon intelligence and an array of unexpected physical developments. Dren begins to learn at an accelerated rate and threatens to become their worst nightmare.

Director Vincenzo Natali (Cube) says his take on the Frakenstein myth is "pretty sensational in a lot of ways, but I did co-write the script in consultation with real geneticists and vetted everything with them to make sure it was possible".
