True story Turkish drama that begins in the morning with preparations for dinner to be served in the palace in the evening. This is the last supper before the proclamation of the Republic.
As the hectic preparations continue, Ahir, the old kitchen boy, receives a visitor from the village. His six-year-old granddaughter Elif, whom he has never seen before, is now entrusted to his care. For the time being, Ahir has to hide this unexpected guest from Head Chef Rüstem, the sole ruler of the kitchen. Another secret he has to keep is the fact that he is just the kitchen boy. For Elif, having grown up on stories told by her mother, believes her grandfather to be the palace's head chef. As the hours draw near when the fate of the country will change; Rüstem, the head chef, has an accident while shopping.
The entire burden of the night unexpectedly falls on the shoulders of Ahir, the old kitchen boy. This old man, who injured an arm in the Gallipoli War, is actually a skilled cook who used to work in palace kitchens, just as Elif says. The banquet, where the Republic is proclaimed, is finally adorned with Ottoman dishes of the former palace chef. The decisions are new, the food familiar, the chef is old.
