A look at the life of French sculptor Auguste Rodin and his love Camille Claudel. Played in competition at the 2017 Cannes International Film Festival.
“At 40 years of age, Rodin at last receives his first public commission and creates his famous unfinished portal The Gates of Hell, a sculptural group work composed of many figures (some of these, such as Le Baiser and Le Penseur, will become his most famous pieces). It is at this time that he meets young Camille Claudel, his most talented student. She entices him with her youth, sensuality and artistic prowess. After ten years of passion, mutual admiration and complicity followed by a break up, Rodin relentlessly pursues his work. He has to cope with as much rejection as enthusiasm provoked by the sensuality of his sculptures.” (French Film Festival)
