Meet the Browns

As a single mother living in Chicago, Brenda (Angela Bassett) has enough problems keeping her kids clean and off the streets. Without warning, she gets laid off and becomes a bit ‘doom and gloom’.

A letter arrives announcing the death of a father she’s never met, so she travels down to Georgia for the funeral. Here she meets his extended family, the Browns. They are rather crass, but good sorts, and Brenda enjoys getting to know them.

Written and directed by Tyler Perry, Meet the Browns is based on his poular stage play. Perry performs the Eddie Murphy trick of portraying both Madea and Uncle Joe in the film.
