Carmen (1918)

Ernst Lubitsch's silent film version of the classic tale stars Pola Negri as the titular femme fatale. Carmen was released in the US three years later as Gypsy Blood, and appeared along with two other Lubitsch films on the New York Times' list of the 15 most important films of 1921.
