How to watch Frank of Ireland season one in the UK
In the mood for some glee, son? Then we have excellent news, as Brendan’s kids, Brian and Domhnall, have a sitcom—presumably with better jokes than the one we came up with.
How to watch Frank of Ireland season one in the UK
All six episodes of Frank of Ireland season one are streaming in the UK exclusively on Channel 4.
What is Frank of Ireland about?
Brian Gleeson is the titular Frank, who thinks he’s a musical genius struggling in undeserved obscurity, when he’s actually a 30-something failure-to-launch case still living with his mother and pining over his ex-girlfriend of some six years’ past. Domhnall is his annoyingly naïve best mate, Doofus. Together, the boorish Frank and the innocent Doofus navigate life as two largely hopeless losers in suburban Dublin. Sometimes that involves trying to hawk band merch at a funeral. Sometimes it means writing songs for a gender-swapped musical take on 12 Angry Men. The brothers Gleeson created the series, along with Michael Moloney, and Ted Lasso veteran MJ Delaney is on directing duties for all six episodes.
The cast of Frank of Ireland
In addition to the aforementioned Gleeson lads, we get Pom Boyd as Frank’s booze-addled mum, Maty, plus Sarah Greene as Áine, the girl he’s been pining for lo, these many years.

What are the critics saying about Frank of Ireland?
Well, to be frank, the critical fraternity haven’t been kind to this family affair, with even the best reviews topping out at “middling” or “promising”. The general consensus seems to be that audiences (well, critics, at least) have grown more than a bit weary of the “oafish man-child” archetype and Frank of Ireland does little to take the theme in any new directions.
Still, the chemistry between the siblings has won praise, and we’re getting a low key Roddy Doyle vibe off this one, so it could be worth a roll of the dice.
