Get closer to the magic of film by visiting Shepperton, part of the Pinewood Studios group. Surrounding a stately home (a location for The Omen, among others) the studios have been in use for nearly 90 years, and its vast backlots, stages and underwater tanks have hosted films including Captain America: The First Avenger, 2001: A Space Odyssey, Blade Runner and Gravity. However, the studios are generally closed to the public, save for occasional live events and the chance to be in the audience for live TV shows, so check the website for more details. Also, the cinema is only open on weekends and there are no ticket sales on the door, so make sure you book in advance.
