About Scott Cinemas Bristol (Orpheus)
Contact & About
The original 1,400-seat Orpheus was a triumph of art-deco style that opened in a blaze of glory in 1938, but closed its doors to make way for a supermarket in 1971. Its loyal followers were delighted by its replacement, which was built in 1974 and is now run by Scott Cinemas. The updated venue successfully combines old-fashioned charm with digital technology and, as a reminder of the glory days, classic films are still shown from time to time. There are three screens, one of which has Dolby 3D, and the cinema still has its 35mm projection kit. There are plans to revive it soon.
