About Hyde Park Picture House
Contact & About
Opened in 1914, and repeatedly closed, saved and refurbished since, this single-screen heritage icon repays its community’s support with a warm programme of arthouse/indie and blockbusters, all in full-spec DCP and sound. An alternative 35mm projector is deployed for vintage fare, including a perennial Christmas screening of It’s a Wonderful Life. Gorgeous original features are preserved throughout, including the UK’s only remaining low-level ‘modesty’ gas lights, a terrazzo foyer floor with external ticket booth, classic snack kiosk, and beautifully adorned barrel-vaulted ceiling and balcony. The original wall-painted screen with golden cherub surround remains intact behind its modern successor.
