About Glasgow Film Theatre
Contact & About
This beautiful Art Deco building on Rose Street in the city centre houses perhaps the most treasured institution of Scottish cinema. The Glasgow Film Theatre opened as a single-screen cinema in May 1974 in response to the Scottish Film Council’s search for the country’s first regional film theatre, and today forms the thriving hub of Scotland’s movie scene.
Over the decades it has expanded into a beloved and welcoming three-screen, two-bar complex, which hosts lectures, workshops and the Glasgow Film Festival, as well as screening independent and world cinema, not to mention artists’ experimental work and live broadcasts.
