About Everyman Cinema Bristol
Contact & About
Originally known as The Whiteladies Picture House, the Everyman was built on the site of a nunnery and has retained some of its features over the years. The magnificent venue opened in 1921 with Pollyanna, a particularly wholesome United Artists release starring Mary Pickford, and changed hands over the ensuing century, passing through big names such as ABC, Cannon, MGM and Odeon, before it was mothballed in 2001. Plans to turn the art deco Grade II listed site into a gym were overturned following a local campaign, and in 2016 it reopened as the three-screen Everyman Bristol. It screens new releases alongside arthouse faves, and serves good food from its Spielburger kitchen. As well as the requisite offering of theatre and music screenings, the venue also hosts an impressive programme of live Q&As. The largest screen – in the old cinema’s circle – has 243 seats.
