Colosseum Bournemouth

Vying for the title of the UK’s smallest cinema (a surprisingly hotly contested field), the Colosseum has come a long way since opening in 2013. Situated underneath a coffee shop in Bournemouth’s Westbourne Arcade, the cinema started out with one teeny screening room seating only 19 people, and grew to incorporate a bar and a second screen (with a capacity of just eight). During the coronavirus lockdown, the owners developed the space even further, adding a third screening room, making improvements to the existing facilities and overhauling the bar to resemble an old Irish alehouse. Film-wise, recent favourites share the bill with classics from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s.
