About Ciné Lumière London

Contact & About

The Institut Français opened in 1939, with the Ciné Lumière arriving in 1998 to celebrate French, European and world cinema. One of London’s most-loved cinemas, the Lumière also ranks among the most stylish thanks to the art-deco Institut, which also houses a multimedia library, reading room, children’s activities and more. Reopened in 2009 by Catherine Deneuve, the main theatre seats 226 in comfort and style, while the Lumière II – opened in 2019 – seats 34. Top-notch programming includes new releases, a broad range of CinéFamilies screenings for parents/carers and children of all ages, and various progressive festivals, with recent entries ranging from Women Shaping the World to a celebration of Simone Signoret and a climate change-themed season.
